Benefits of enrolling your child in our program

There is often a misconception that by enrolling a child into a Martial Arts program they learn to punch, fight and put simply… become a bully like the mean kids in Karate Kid. Here at Champion Tae Kwon Do practicing martial arts is about physical fitness, character development which includes self esteem and confidence, focus and concentration, self discipline, leadership and self defense – not just kicking and punching.

Ultimately what Tae Kwon Do gives your child is a better working body, a sharper, more focused mind, a stronger sense of self, more self discipline and the ability to physically defend yourself.

Improved physical fitness

Tae Kwon Do is a great workout! It is a total body workout building your stamina while increasing your muscle tone, flexibility, balance and strength.

We think that human bodies are built for exercise especially children who have endless amounts of energy just waiting to be released!

Children are meant to run, jump and get out of breath all the while having fun. This is one of the greatest benefits of Tae Kwon do for your child, not only do they exercise their whole body from top to toe they exercise their mind as well!

Enhanced self esteem and self confidence

By learning martial arts skills and improving your physical condition, your child will become more comfortable in all situations, whether they’re in danger or simply doing a task that takes them beyond their comfort zone.

Kids have a new sense of self-confidence, making them virtually “bully proof.” Added to that it has been seen time and time again that children with high self esteem are less likely to get involved in destructive behavior like drug taking or alcohol abuse.

Increased focus and concentration

From the very first day of class, students are challenged to think as much as they act, learning the forms and movements reinforces working memory.

Increased social skills

Many students start out at Champion Tae Kwon do as very shy, nervous and scared kids and just after a short time they are showing the ability to deal with others, make friends and help others.

Stress relief

Physical exercise has been known since the dawn of time as a great way to relieve all forms of stress. Kicking, punching and screaming are a great release, no matter what your age and we do it all!

Respect for values

We emphasize honesty, integrity, courtesy, perseverance and excellence are some curriculum areas of focus. Children learn to respect their instructors, respect each other and more importantly they learn to respect themselves. They learn to be polite to everyone, even people they may not like which we think is a great skill for them to take with them into adult life.

Perseverance

Kids in Champion Tae Kwon Do learn the power of perseverance. Children learn that if something is difficult but worth achieving then for them to achieve it they have to keep trying. They have to face failure and get over it, pick themselves up, and try again and again. When they get it after working so hard to achieve their goals their sense of achievement and pride is fantastic to see on their smiling faces! It’s a great boost to their self confidence and self esteem.
